Waffles are such a fun food! They are so delicious, easy, affordable, and versatile. You can make them savory, or sweet, or both! Waffles are enjoyed all over the world, and celebrated on International Waffle Day, March 25th.
Many people love chicken and waffles for brunch. For many years, I was not even aware that chicken and waffles was a thing! But in the last several years I was introduced to the dish and now I am a huge fan. So when I was offered the opportunity to try the Fried Chicken and Waffles brunch dish at Grand Lux Cafe, I was totally on board! My friend Lisa from Jersey Girl Cooks and I rounded up our hubbies and headed over to the restaurant on a sunny Sunday morning to sample that waffle dish and also to see what other yummy items they have on their brunch menu.
My husband ordered the Grand Lux Cafe French toast, which was extra thick, crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside, and topped with a mountain of strawberries. So yummy! Lisa’s husband ordered the Churro French Toast, which was coated in cinnamon sugar and served with drizzles of chocolate sauce and caramel sauce. Incredibly decadent!
There are many other items on the brunch menu as well, so there is something for everyone! As for the Fried Chicken and Waffles, our waitress commented that it was one of their most popular brunch items, and it was easy to see why! Between the crispy saltiness of the fried chicken, the light and fluffy waffle, the sprinkling of crunchy pecans, and the drizzled syrup tying it all together, it was the perfect marriage of flavors and textures! I am practically drooling over my keyboard right now just thinking about it.
So don’t forget to celebrate International Waffle Day on March 25th, and if you want it to be REALLY special and fun, round up the whole family and head over to Grand Lux Cafe and try their Fried Chicken and Waffles and other brunch items. Yum!
