October is National Dessert Month, and a great way to celebrate is to stop in to Grand Lux Cafe and try a few of their amazing sweet treats!
Sometimes, being a food blogger is tough. For example, not too long ago my site went down and I spent SIX HOURS on a web chat with my hosting company support, trying to get it back up.
That was stressful, and made me question why I was even blogging if it was going to just make me crazy.
There are other times, though, that being a food blogger is AMAZING. And being invited to a dessert tasting at the Grand Lux Cafe is one of those times! What a fun event, and so delicious!
I confess I had never been to the Grand Lux Cafe before, even though there is a location not very far from my house. I didn’t even know that they are a sister chain to the very well-known Cheesecake Factory franchise. But, they don’t need to ride on the Cheesecake Factory’s coat tails, because the food at Grand Lux Cafe is fabulous all on it’s own!
I had so much fun watching a demonstration on how to make the Warm Sticky Bun Bread Pudding. Lucky for us, not only did we get to see it made and taste the final product, but we also were given the recipe to try it out ourselves! I can’t wait to give it a whirl, and when I do I will share it with all of you.
Grand Lux is not just about desserts, though.
In the photos below, you can see I had the opportunity to try their Buffalo Chicken Bites and Ahi Cerviche, along with a really tasty cocktail, an Asian Pear Martini. I was surprised that the pear chip floating on top stayed crunchy! It was really delicious, I would go back just to have one of those again!
Then, it was time for the main attraction, the desserts. I have to tell you, each one was more delectable than the last.
We tried the Warm Rustic Apple Pie (with vanilla ice cream on top!), the Warm Sticky Bun Bread Pudding (of course), a Molten Chocolate Cake (so chocolatey!), Key Lime Pie (sweet and tart, so delicious!), and New Orleans Beignets (light and crispy, with three different sauces – my fav was the raspberry sauce!).
We also tried the Warm Butter Cake (so rich and buttery). Somehow I missed getting a photo of that one, though. But trust me, it tasted and looked amazing!
It was an incredible evening, and I will definitely be going back. At the end of the night, the wonderful people at Grand Lux Cafe sent us on our way with a box of their Homemade Chocolate Chip Pecan Cookies, which was good, because if I ate another bite, I was going to need to be rolled out of there!
Believe it or not, they make many of their desserts to order, so make sure you have plenty of time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the anticipation of a treat made just for you!
