1 ½ cups brown sugar, 1 cup white sugar, 1 cup water
Heat on medium till boiling and let simmer for about 4-5 minutes, or till the desired consistency.
Add the vanilla and maple flavor, stir then switch off the heat.
1 tablespoon maple flavoring, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Use immediately or store in a dry, airtight container in the fridge for 2-3 weeks.
Notes
Adjust the sweetness and flavor of the syrup to suit your taste. You can add more brown sugar for a richer flavor or more water for a lighter consistency.
This homemade version won't be exactly like real maple syrup, but it can still be a delicious alternative for pancakes, waffles, and other recipes.
