Make these tasty orange muffins for a yummy treat in the morning! Bright and vibrant orange contrasts with sweet and decadent chocolate in a tender and moist muffin!
In a bowl, sift the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
1 ¾ cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, ¾ teaspoon salt
Take one orange, cut in half and press the juice out of it into a large mixing bowl. Peel the other orange, slice the segments into bite-sized chunks and place them in the bowl with the juice.
2 oranges
Add egg, sugar, milk, and melted butter in into the bowl with the orange chunks. With a hand mixer or a whisk, mix until all the ingredients are well combined.
1 egg, ½ cup sugar, ½ cup milk, ⅓ cup melted butter
Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and combine, mixing as little as possible but just enough to obtain a moist batter.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Spoon the batter into silicone or paper-lined muffin pans, then bake at 380°F for about 25 minutes.

Notes
Do not open the oven door during baking which can cause flattened muffins.
Avoid beating the batter like a cake, as it will tend to prevent the muffins from rising and makes them too dense.
Only fill the muffin molds three-quarters full to avoid overflow while baking.
You can substitute vegetable oil for the butter however it will result in lighter muffins.
Silicone liners work better than paper liners, which burn easily.
