Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the eggs, milk, and ½ cup butterscotch syrup.
6 eggs,
1 cup milk,
½ cup
butterscotch syrup
Lightly grease a 9x13 baking sheet, distribute the pieces of bread evenly in the baking dish, and then pour the egg mixture over the bread pieces.
10 ounces brioche bread
Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, or longer (even overnight) until you are ready to bake.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
Melt the butter. In a small bowl, combine the graham crackers, brown sugar, melted butter, 2 teaspoon butterscotch syrup, and salt.
¾ cup graham cracker crumbs,
¼ cup brown sugar,
2 tablespoons butter,
¼ teaspoon salt,
2 teaspoons butterscotch syrup
Evenly sprinkle the graham cracker mixture over the casserole.
Bake uncovered until browned and bubbling, about 20-25 minutes. Keep an eye on it so it doesn't burn.
Notes
Prep Tips:
You can use any type of brioche bread - buns, rolls, etc.
Cut the bread into uniform bite-sized pieces to ensure even baking.
Use good quality syrup for the best flavor.
Variation Suggestions:
Swap the butterscotch syrup for caramel or maple syrup if you like.
Add chocolate chips, chopped pecans, or sliced bananas before baking for extra richness.
Try using challah or French bread if brioche isn’t available.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve warm with a drizzle of extra butterscotch or caramel sauce.
Pair with fresh berries for a sweet-and-fruity balance.
Top with sprinkled confectioner's sugar, a dollop of whipped cream, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream to use this as a dessert.
Storage Info For Leftovers:
Store any leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Reheat individual portions in the microwave or oven until warmed through.
You can freeze this in portions for up to 2 months; then thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat before serving.
