Instructions
Place the pork in the slow cooker and if desired season with salt and pepper.
2-3 pounds boneless pork shoulder,
salt and pepper
Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork.
18 ounces barbecue sauce
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
Once the pork is done, remove it from the crock pot and shred it with two forks.
Optional step: Take some of the liquid from the crock pot and mix into the shredded pork for flavor and moisture.
Notes
Serving suggestions: Serve on rolls, baked potato halves, rice, pasta, or mashed potatoes. It can even be used as a topping for nachos.
Drizzle with some additional barbecue sauce when serving, if desired. And/or top with some cole slaw for extra flavor and crunch!
You can use other cuts of pork instead of shoulder, like pork butt or loin roast.
If your pork does not come apart easily when shredding, it needs a little more cooking time.
Use your favorite store-bought or homemade barbecue sauce.
If there is a lot of fat on your pork, you can trim it off before placing it in the slow cooker.
