Cut the onion into chunks and use a food processor or cheese grater to produce about ⅓ cup grated onion.
1 onion
In a large bowl, combine the grated onion with the ground turkey, Italian seasoning, pepper, and garlic salt.
1 pound ground turkey, 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning, ½ teaspoon pepper, ½ teaspoon garlic salt
Spray a baking dish with cooking spray, and press the turkey mixture into the baking dish into a rectangle shape that is slightly longer and wider than one layer of the slider buns.
Bake about 15-20 minutes, until the turkey is done (juices run clear).
Leaving the slider buns attached to each other if possible, place the bottoms of the buns on a baking sheet. Place the cooked turkey rectangle on top of the buns and then distribute the cheese slices over the top (if you are using them).
6-8 slider buns, 4 cheese slices
Place the tops of the buns on top and, if desired, brush with melted butter. Place in the oven 4-5 minutes to heat the buns and melt the cheese.
1 tablespoon butter
When you remove the turkey slider slab from the oven, cut with a large knife to separate each slider from the rest.
Notes
Opt for ground turkey that has a mix of light and dark meat, as this will result in juicier and more flavorful sliders.
Ground turkey can dry out easily if overcooked, so keep an eye on it. The meat should reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) using a meat thermometer.
When choosing cheese for turkey burgers, you'll want a cheese that complements the flavor of the turkey without overpowering it. Some popular cheese options that go well with turkey burgers are Swiss, cheddar, pepper jack, gouda, blue cheese, and feta.
For variety, offer a range of condiments, such as ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, pickles, lettuce, and tomato, so everyone can customize their sliders to their liking!
