💡 Expert Tips and Tricks
- If you want to save prep time, use jarred garlic and anchovies or bottled lemon juice.
- You can use an immersion blender if you don't have a regular blender or food processor.
- Be sure to taste the dressing after blending and adjust the seasonings as needed.
- For a dressing that's on the thinner side, add an extra splash of water or lemon juice. For a thicker dressing, use less liquid or add more yogurt.
- Allow the dressing to come up to room temperature before serving for maximum flavor.
❔ FAQs
While the traditional version of Caesar dressing includes raw egg yolk, many versions like this one substitute mayonnaise instead for a similar flavor profile without worrying about raw ingredients.
Aside from mayo, some other potential options are aquafaba, tofu, or even some chia seeds.
Caesar dressing isn't particularly healthy as it contains a lot of fat, calories, and sodium, but eaten in appropriate portions with a nice balanced salad it makes for a nice meal!
📝 Substitutions and Variations
- Make this dressing even lighter by substituting half of the mayo for more Greek yogurt.
- Add a pop of herbal flavor with parsley, dill, or chives.
- If you like a little kick, cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes are a great addition.
- Instead of Parmesan, you can also use Asiago cheese or Pecorino Romano.
Kristin’s Kitchen Tip
For ingredients like the lemon juice and garlic, I highly recommend going for fresh for the best flavor in your dressing!
🥡 Storage
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week or so. I don't recommend freezing homemade dressing since it contains so much dairy - it'll all separate out or get grainy when frozen.
If your dressing separates at all during storage, just give it a good mix before serving again.
