💡 Expert Tips and Tricks
- Feel free to use pre-cooked sausage crumbles to further cut down on prep time.
- To eliminate dishes, pour the milk in a large measuring cup and add the eggs and seasonings right to the milk in the same cup.
- Use a toothpick to check the center of the casserole for doneness.
❔ FAQs
These two kinds of dough are similar, but biscuits tend to be a bit denser and crescent rolls are more flaky and airy.
Be sure to drain off the excess grease from the sausage before adding it to the casserole, and make sure you've baked your casserole properly.
Once the top is golden brown and the egg is no longer runny or liquidy, the casserole should be good to go! Use a toothpick to check the center of the casserole if you're not sure.

📝 Substitutions and Variations
- For more flavor, add sauteed or caramelized onions, red bell peppers, or spinach.
- Another kind of cheese like pepper jack or mozzarella can be substituted or used along with the cheddar.
- If you like things spicy, add a dash of hot sauce or some red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper.
- Mushrooms can be used instead of sausage for a vegetarian friendly option!
Kristin’s Kitchen Tip
This casserole is perfect for a holiday brunch! Serve with some mimosas and fruit for a complete and special morning meal.
🥡 Storage and Reheating
If you have leftovers, there are two good storage options. Cover the whole casserole well with plastic or an airtight lid, or wrap individual slices in plastic or place in an airtight container.
I've had success microwaving this casserole to reheat it! Individual slices are great for quick and easy breakfasts throughout the week.
You can also freeze individual slices and place in a freezer bag, then thaw them and microwave when it's time to eat them again.
