🥘 Ingredients Needed
For a complete list of ingredients, please refer to the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- potatoes - for the best results, I suggest you use russet potatoes. They also give you that classic potato wedge look!
- oil - I coat my potato wedges with olive oil.
- seasoning - this is where you can get a little wild. Use whatever seasoning you like! I went with the classic garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
🔪 Instructions
Please note: This is an overview of the instructions. You'll find the complete instructions in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Wash and scrub clean the russet potatoes before patting them dry and cutting them into wedges. To do so, cut the potato in half before cutting each piece into half again, before finally cutting those pieces in half as well.
- Transfer the cut wedges into a large bag.
- Add in the olive oil and seasoning. Shake to combine.
- Air fry the potato wedges for 17 minutes at 400°F. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket and fry in two batches if needed.
- Shake the basket at the half way mark. Let cool before serving.
👪 FAQs
You can air fry these in advance and reheat them when needed! You can also cut up the potatoes a day ahead of time and store them in water, covered, in the refrigerator. This prevents the cut potatoes from oxidizing and looking brown.
You can definitely cut up these potato wedges smaller. Just be sure to decrease the cook them as smaller wedges will cook up much faster.
For potato wedges, you want to use a waxy potato with thin skin so they come out crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Russets are the best but you can also sub in Yukon or red potatoes if you're out of russets!
🧊 Storage
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
- To reheat, add the potato wedges back into the air fryer and fry for 5 minutes at 350°F or until warmed through.
- I would not suggest freezing these potato wedges. Luckily, they're simple enough to make to make a batch whenever you're craving them!
💭 Helpful Tips
- For an extra touch, you can garnish with some flakey salt or some freshly grated parmesan.
- It's super important to not overcrowd the air fryer. When there are too many wedges in them, it will cause the potatoes to steam instead of fry, leading to soft soggy wedges.
- For younger children, you may want to skip the seasoning or go lighter on the seasoning.
📖 Variations
- Make these wedges spicier with some cayenne pepper sprinkled into the seasoning.
- You can also season with cajun seasoning, Italian seasoning, herb de provence, chili pepper, Old Bay seasoning, and more! The options are endless.
