Pizza...it is so versatile! We have pizza night almost every Friday night. You can do a gazillion things with pizza, but we find ourselves always defaulting to the same old cheese pizza, sometimes adding pepperoni or mushrooms. So a couple of weeks ago I decided to be CRAAAAAZY, and choose one of those gazillion options to try!
Beef and blue cheese is one of my favorite flavor combos. Of course, neither one would be considered an inexpensive ingredient, but all-in-all this pizza ended up costing us less than pizzeria pizza, so it was still a win!
This artisan pizza is so easy to make and I'll go out on a limb and say it tastes even better than delivery! There's something about homemade pizza that really hits the spot, so if you're looking for something that's relatively low-effort with delicious results, this blue cheese pizza is right up your alley!

- onion - this is an optional ingredient, but it adds so much delicious flavor that I highly recommend it.
- mushrooms - just like the onion the mushrooms aren't mandatory, but they pair so well with the steak and blue cheese!
- whole wheat pizza dough - just a little bit healthier than classic pizza dough, and this artisan pizza is packed with so much flavor you won't even notice the difference.
- mozzarella - even though there's blue cheese, you also need a milder cheese to act as a base.
- steak strips - while steak isn't the most inexpensive ingredient, the flavor it adds is well worth the price.
- blue cheese crumbles - even if you aren't a fan of blue cheese, you'll love it on this pizza!

- Slice the onion into strips, about ½ inch.
- Heat some olive oil in a pan and cook the onion with a little bit of salt and pepper.
- When the onions start to become translucent, add the mushrooms and cook until soft.
- Roll out your pizza dough to about 16 inches in diameter, using flour to prevent sticking.
- Place the dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Top with mozzarella and steak tips.
- Distribute the onion and mushroom mixture if using.
- Sprinkle blue cheese crumbles over top, then bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 F until crust is golden brown.

You can also freeze leftover pizza for 2-3 months. Just like from the fridge, you can bake your pizza right from the freezer. Just be sure to give it a couple more minutes so it gets fully heated.

Steak and Blue Cheese Pizza
Ingredients
- ½ onion (optional)
- salt and pepper (optional)
- 8 ounces sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 14 ounces whole wheat pizza dough (make your own or use store-bought)
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella
- 1 cup cooked steak strips
- 4 ounces blue cheese crumbles
- handful of baby arugula (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees Celsius).
Optional steps:
- Slice the ½ onion in small strips. Add a little olive oil to a pan, heat over medium high, then add the onion and some salt and pepper and toss to coat.½ onion, salt and pepper
- Allow the onion to cook, stirring occasionally. When the onions start to soften and become translucent, add the mushrooms and keep cooking until the mushrooms are also softened.8 ounces sliced mushrooms
Main steps:

Notes
- Use a precooked pizza shell for even easier prep. Follow all the instructions for the other ingredients as written, but bake according to the temperature and time provided with the pizza shell.
- Another idea for super easy prep is to buy precooked, frozen steak strips, or even sandwich steaks (like SteakUmm).
