❔ FAQs
There are about 65 calories in each of these refreshing ice lollies, making them a sweet but light refreshment for the summer!
To prevent freezer burn or other icy crystals forming on your popsicles, be sure to leave them in the freezer for enough time to freeze all the way through. This iciness is often caused by outer layers melting and then re-freezing. Leave the popsicles alone until they're fully done for best results!
These lemonade ice pops shouldn't freeze to the point of being solid. If they do, you may need to adjust the proportions of ingredients. Another way to prevent hard popsicles is to add a bit of Greek yogurt or coconut milk. This will create a lemon cream popsicle that has a softer consistency.
💭 Expert Tips and Tricks
- A glass measuring cup can be helpful when transferring the lemonade mixture into your popsicle molds.
- If you add Greek yogurt to your popsicles to make them creamier, you may need additional molds as this will increase the volume of your mixture. It may also need additional freezing time.
- Can't get popsicle sticks to situate properly in your popsicles? Allow them to freeze for about an hour, then place the popsicle sticks in the partially frozen mixture.
- Don't have an ice pop mold or popsicle maker? Pour your mixture into Dixie cups or other paper cups and add popsicle sticks, then peel the cups away once frozen.
- Silicone molds are an excellent option for both creating your popsicles and storing them.
📌 With the perfect balance of sweet, tart, and tangy, these homemade Lemonade Popsicles are an easy 3-ingredient summer treat, perfect for any hot day! You'll love the easy prep that still yields a fantastic end result.
💡 Substitutions and Variations
- For the freshest results in this lemonade popsicle recipe, use fresh squeezed lemon juice. However, bottled lemon juice is a great way to cut down on prep time and still results in yummy popsicles!
- Use lemon zest in the popsicle mixture for even more authentic citrus flavor.
- This recipe can be made with a variety of other juices, like orange juice, lime juice, grapefruit juice, and more.
- Add fresh raspberries, slices of strawberries, mango, pineapple, blueberries, kiwi, and more!
- Use maple syrup for a more natural sweetener. You may need to heat the water in a small saucepan to get the syrup to properly incorporate.
- Give your homemade ice pops an elegant and sophisticated flair by adding fresh herbs like fresh basil or fresh mint.
🥫 Storage and Reheating
Keep your lemonade ice pops in the freezer in their mold for 6 months. They may last longer, but check for any potential freezer burn.
If you want to remove them from the mold, store them in a freezer bag. Pieces of wax paper can be placed between the popsicles to prevent them from sticking together.

📋 Recipe Card
Lemonade Popsicles
Equipment
Ingredients
- ¾ cup lemon juice
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 cups cold water
- ½ cup strawberry slices, or another fruit (optional)
Instructions
- Combine the lemon juice and sugar in a medium bowl. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.¾ cup lemon juice, ¾ cup sugar
- Pour the lemon juice mixture into the water and stir.2 cups cold water
- Optional step - If you are using strawberry or other fruit slices, place them in the mold compartment. Try to stick them to the side if you can.½ cup strawberry slices, or another fruit
- Divide the lemon mixture among the mold compartments, leaving a little room at the top for expansion when freezing. Cover and place the popsicle sticks in the slits of the lid.
- Place in the freezer for at least 3-4 hours (overnight is best).
- To easily remove the frozen popsicles from the mold, place some hot water in a pan and let the mold sit in the pan for a minute or two. Gently pull on the sticks while pushing on the bottom of the compartment to remove. Alternatively, just let the mold sit out on the counter for about 5 minutes before removing.
Notes
- For easier pouring into the mold, use a 4 cup glass measuring cup.
- I used lemon juice from a bottle, but for even better taste, squeeze a couple of fresh lemons.
- Add some lemon zest to the popsicle mixture before pouring into the mold for even better lemon flavor!
- Try this recipe with orange juice or lime juice for a variety of flavors.
- The amount of sugar can be adjusted to suit your taste.
- Add a ½ cup to 1 cup of vanilla Greek yogurt to the lemon mixture for a softer, creamier popsicle. Note that this will increase the volume and so you may need an additional popsicle mold (or refrigerate the leftover until you can use your mold again).
- TIP: If your sticks won't stay straight in the mold even though the slits are supposed to hold them in place, try freezing your popsicles for 1 hour and then placing the sticks in the partially frozen pops.
- STORAGE: If you need to empty your mold, place any extra popsicles in plastic bags and store them in the freezer.
