🧂 Ingredients Needed
- frozen mango chunks - using frozen fruit helps give this dessert its icy, frozen texture.
- lime juice - helps enhance the sweetness with a bit of natural acidity.
- plain yogurt - combines with the fruit to produce a phenomenal creamy texture.
- maple syrup - provides natural sweetness that pulls everything together.
🔪 Instructions
- Place the mango chunks in a food processor and blend until they're shredded. They'll look like small shreds at this point.
- Add in the yogurt, lemon juice, and maple syrup, then pulse until smooth and well combined.
❔ FAQs
When it comes to making homemade frozen yogurt, if you just put yogurt in the freezer, you won't get the creamy results you're looking for. It's better if you blend the yogurt in some way while adding other ingredients (like fruit!) to help with flavor and texture.
This could be a result of using yogurt that doesn't contain enough fat. Less fat and more water will lead to more ice crystals, which can result in an icier frozen yogurt. One way to prevent this is to use something like an ice cream machine, which agitates the mixture as it freezes and prevents those crystals from forming.
Absolutely! Aside from being high in fiber, mangoes are also a great source of antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin C, and folate.
💭 Expert Tips and Tricks
- If you don't have a food processor, a blender will also get the job done. A Vitamix or Ninja blender both work particularly well!
- You can also use fresh mango, but you'll need to let it sit in the freezer to attain the proper consistency. If you're looking to blend and serve immediately, go for the frozen mango.
- Top your frozen yogurt with diced mango, a fruit compote of your choice, a fruit flavored syrup, or even something like chocolate syrup!
📌 This 4 ingredient frozen mango recipe results in an easy and delicious creamy treat, and all you need is a regular food processor!
💡 Substitutions and Variations
- Greek yogurt can be used instead of regular yogurt if you prefer.
- If possible, use a full-fat yogurt. A low fat yogurt will still work, but will result in a less creamy frozen yogurt.
- For some additional flavor, feel free to throw in some additional frozen fruits. Strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, raspberries, or blackberries would pair well with the mango flavor.
🥫 Storage
Keep your mango frozen yogurt in the freezer in an airtight container. It will last for months at a time if stored properly. I recommend removing it from the freezer half an hour or so before serving to let it soften so you can scoop it.

Mango and lime are a match made in heaven. I made this with coconut-based yogurt to make it dairy free and it was so refreshing, especially after a spicy meal.
