❔ FAQs
Yes, zucchini is packed with vitamins and minerals and can also improve digestion and lower the risk of heart disease.
Technically, zucchini is actually a fruit! It's a variety of squash, and botanically the squash is considered similar to melons, cucumbers, and spaghetti squash.
If you overcrowd the pan, your zucchini may get soggy and soft instead of browning up.

💡 Expert Tips and Tricks
- You can buy pre-sliced zucchini from the grocery store to make prep even easier.
- If you are slicing your own zucchini, try to make sure all of the slices are even.
- Give the garlic a good mince to release all of the flavors and promote even cooking.
- Cook the zucchini in batches if need be. Overcrowding the pan may result in soggy zucchini.
- Walnuts can also be purchased pre-chopped to save time.
- This is best served immediately to ensure the walnuts are crunchy and the zucchini is tender crisp.
This super tasty sliced zucchini side dish is great for a weeknight dinner but elegant enough to serve with your holiday feast!
📝 Substitutions and Variations
- In a pinch, you can use jarred garlic or even garlic paste as a substitute for fresh garlic cloves.
- Pre-grated Parmesan cheese works great, but grating or shredding your own Parmesan yields even more delicious results!
- Add more seasonings to taste. I like to taste the zucchini and add more pepper, or even add some paprika or red pepper flakes for a little bit of spice.
- This can also be made with other veggies like yellow squash, bell peppers, or mushrooms.
- Switch the kind of nuts for a different flavor. Pine nuts, almonds, and pecans are other great options as well.
- Add some tangy and citrusy flavor by squeezing in fresh lemon juice or stirring in lemon zest.
- Turn this into a main dish by adding grilled shrimp or chicken, tofu, or another protein.

🥡 Storage and Reheating
This sliced zucchini dish is best served immediately, but you can also store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 2 to 3 days. Reheat by sauteeing again in oil over medium high heat. If you microwave the leftovers, they're likely to get soggy or mushy.
