I am always looking for great crock pot recipes, and this Crock Pot Beef and Mushrooms with Red Wine Sauce is definitely up there in the list of our favorites!

As a mom with a full-time job outside the home, crock pot recipes make up a huge number of my go-to weeknight dinners. I just love being able to throw some ingredients together in the morning and then not have to worry about starting dinner when I get home from the office.

Also, crock pot recipes tend to be very forgiving, so there are no worries that something will go wrong which would necessitate coming up with a plan B at the last minute!

Red wine is a great way to add an interesting flavor to the sauce. It pairs so well with the beef and the mushrooms. You can use any kind of red wine, but I typically use either a table wine, or a Cabernet-Sauvignon blend.

But if I happen to have leftover wine that is not one of those two, I will use that. As I mentioned, this recipe is very forgiving, so using different wine may change the flavor a bit, but it will still be good!
