🩵 About This Recipe
Sometimes when I'm craving chocolate, a little piece isn't enough, but it's way too much work to make a cake or a batch of brownies! That's where this cookies and cream milkshake saves the day.

🧂 Ingredients Needed
- vanilla ice cream - acts as a sweet and creamy base for your milkshake.
- milk - helps prevent the shake from getting too thick. You can use regular milk, or a non-dairy substitute like oat milk or almond milk for a slightly lighter version of this recipe.
- Oreo cookies - any chocolate sandwich cookie works well here, but I love the classic flavor of Oreos!
- chocolate chips - provides extra chocolatey flavor that gives your cookies and cream shake an extra boost of indulgent flavor.
🔪 Instructions
Combine Ingredients
To a blender, add the ice cream, milk, cookies, and chocolate chips.
Blend
Pulse until smooth, then split into 2 glasses and serve.
Use more or less milk depending on how thick you like your milkshakes! If you accidentally add too much, you can add some more ice cream and blend it again.
❔ FAQs
Use a higher ratio of ice cream vs milk for a thicker result. If you don't want to add milk at all, you can also let the ice cream melt a bit before blending it up, which will thin out your shake.
Sadly, this cookies and cream shake isn't all that good for you. It's great for a treat every so often when you're really craving something creamy and chocolatey, but I wouldn't recommend having one every day.
It's best served immediately. If made ahead, it may separate and lose its texture.

💡 Expert Tips and Tricks
- For some extra flair, garnish your milkshake with a swirl of whipped cream, more crushed cookies, and additional chocolate chips.
- You can also add a drizzle of chocolate syrup, a sprinkle of cocoa powder, or a maraschino cherry for added fun.
- If you have a large enough blender, you can double this recipe to make 4 shakes instead. You could also halve the recipe for a single-serving Oreo shake.
This is a great way to quickly put together an Oreo shake that will rival any fast food joint or even your favorite diner!
📝 Substitutions and Variations
- You can make a vegan version of this cookies and cream shake by using vegan ice cream, a non-dairy milk substitute, and vegan chocolate chips.
- Change up the flavor a bit by using an Oreo variety with a different flavor of filling. Use the double chocolate Oreos to really double down on the chocolate flavor. Other good options would be peanut butter Oreos or mint Oreos.
- Another way to change things up is to use a different flavor of ice cream. For even more cookie goodness, use cookies and cream ice cream instead of vanilla.
