👩🏻🍳 About This Recipe
Fudge is one of my favorite easy desserts. Well, to be honest, just about any kind of chocolate will do. I have to confess - I am a classic chocoholic!
However, traditional fudge recipes are a little fussy and complicated (I don't even own a candy thermometer, lol), so I love this super easy shortcut that uses semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and raspberry extract.
The great thing about this easy recipe is that even though it has only 3 ingredients, it still gives you a creamy texture and a rich chocolate flavor that makes it amazingly delicious and practically irresistible. No one will guess that you made this sweet treat using a really easy microwave fudge recipe!
I don't make it often, because it is just too hard to not devour the whole batch within minutes, haha! But when I do make it, I like to come up with different variations, like my Kahlua and Cream Fudge, which is another easy 3 ingredient fudge recipe.
And for the holiday season, it's kind of an unwritten rule in my house that we will have plenty of fudge around as a delicious treat to serve for family and friends.
🥘 Ingredients Needed
- chocolate chips - you can use either milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate. Milk chocolate will give you a creamier consistency and a more sweet and soft fudge.
- sweetened condensed milk - evaporated milk is not the same, so don't try to substitute it.
- raspberry extract - if you have a hard time finding this, use strawberry extract or another fruity extract. You can even use a black raspberry liqueur.
- optional ingredients - white chocolate chips and red candy melts were used in the photos, but there are lots of different optional toppings you can add (see variations section below).
🔪 Instructions
- Prepare your pan by lining it with wax paper. Use an 8x8 inch baking pan.
- Place the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high one minute and stir. If needed, microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Add the extract and mix to combine. Pour it into the pan and smooth with a spatula.
- Optional step: Sprinkle with the white chocolate chips and gently press them into the fudge.
- Place in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours to set.
- When ready, lift out of the pan using the sides of the wax paper, place on a cutting board, and cut into squares with a sharp knife.
👪 FAQs
Yes. Either one will help with easy removal of the fudge from the pan after it sets.
I like to do it in the microwave, but it can be a little tricky to not overheat. A double boiler is a great way to have a controlled melt.
To make a dairy-free batch of fudge, use ¾ cup of coconut milk and 2 tablespoons coconut oil in place of the sweetened condensed milk. Make sure to use the semi-sweet chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate, as well.
You can store in in the fridge, but you don't have to. If you like soft fudge, store it at room temperature. Fudge stored in the refrigerator will be a bit harder.

💭 Other Helpful Tips
- For best results, use higher quality chocolate chips. Very inexpensive chocolate chips will generally not give you the best results.
- If your chocolate mixture seizes up, try adding boiling water to it, a little at a time, and mix it in until the chocolate becomes smooth again.
- While I like to use the microwave for convenience, the most foolproof way to melt chocolate chips is with a double boiler. If you don't have one, you can make your own by nesting a glass bowl on top of a saucepan that contains about an inch or two of gently boiling water.
- After the 3 ingredient fudge hardens, cut into squares with a sharp knife and store in an airtight container at room temperature. Alternatively, place it on a serving platter and loosely cover with plastic wrap.
- To freeze, place the fudge squares in a freezer safe container or a large freezer bag. Separate layers with waxed paper or parchment paper. Fudge can be stored in the freezer for about 3 months.
This Chocolate Raspberry Fudge is easy to customize. Change the extract, colors, and additions to create a customized version of the recipe that your family will love!
📖 Variations
- Change up the extract: Fruity variations are always a family favorite. You can use any fruity-flavored extract in place of the raspberry extract to come up with your own version. Orange would definitely be a good one to sample! You can also use vanilla extract to produce a more basic version of fudge.
- Vary the colors: Use different colored candy melts or white candy melts with a touch of food coloring to vary the color of the drizzle. Or you can use festive sprinkles to match whatever time of year or occasion you want.
- Get creative with delicious additions: Mix-in or top your fudge with mini marshmallows, nuts, dried cranberries, sea salt, Oreo cookies, chocolate chunks, dark chocolate chips, or whatever you like to add another dimension of texture and flavor to your fudge.

Your recipe for 3 ingredient raspberry fudge called for 23 oz. of semi sweet or milk chocolate chips. I used that and when I microwaved it with the condensed milk it turned out like a brownie mix. Should the amount of chips be 12 oz. which is one bag? I double checked and it did say 23 oz.
Kristin
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! It sounds like the chocolate chips may have gotten over-microwaved. However, you definitely could either reduce the amount of the chocolate chips or increase the amount of the sweetened condensed milk. Increasing the amount of sweetened condensed milk will also make your finished product a little softer than what you see in the photos.
Kami
If you use dark chocolate would you use the same amount?
Kristin
I haven't made these with dark chocolate, but as far as I know the same amount should work. However, remember it won't be as sweet or creamy as milk chocolate!
Amanda
How long can the fudge be refrigerated?
Kristin
Good question! I find that it lasts about 2-3 weeks.

That sounds delicious! I just love the combo of chocolate with the sweetness of raspberry (strawberry would be a close runner up but nothing pairs quite like chocolate and raspberry!). Pinned.

Thank you, Joanne!

Kristin,
Sounds like a purrfect no-fail fudge recipe. I'm saving this to try out. Luckily, I have all the stuff on hand since I didn't get to do much Christmas candy making like I normally do, so this is an excellent project to use my supplies for. Incidentally, you have a whole of flashing pop-ups that slow your site down and is a bit of distraction. Perhaps these things are an income generating stream for you. I don't know but I thought I'd let you know just in case you are unaware. Have a good day and thanks for the recipe!
Kristin
Hi Cathy, thanks for your nice words about the recipe! I am not aware of any flashing pop-ups on my site (I certainly would not ever permit anything like that on purpose!), and I tried to duplicate that issue with several desktop and mobile browsers but was unable to. So if you come back and experience the issue again, if you could please give me a little more information as to what device and browser you are are using, and what information is in the pop-ups, I will try to look into it further! Thanks!

Fudge turned out well! Making another batch Wednesday and going to top each piece with a fresh berry painted halfway with melted chocolate for the dessert buffet.

That sounds awesome! 🙂
